Pediatrics is about snot and bubbles
“Pediatrics are about snot and bubbles. So what’s wrong with bubbles?”
One of my pediatric professors in PT school ended our course with that quote and it always stuck with me. She handed us all bottles of bubbles and had us blow a few to see the fun in it. Something as simple as bubbles can give you multiple activities whether it’s breath control, chasing and popping bubbles, tracking as they float away and I’m sure many more.
What made me fall in love with pediatrics is the ability (and necessity) to be creative, innovative, and playful. My days would be filled with building and knocking down block towers, pretend (and some real) cooking, and even some water play. Every day was different. I got daily reminders to find joy and laughter in the little things in life. Kids can be the most amazing teachers and I’ve had some great ones over the course of my career.
I look forward to having you on this journey with me as we explore and share our experiences about the pediatric therapy world while we support kids with a variety of abilities to lead their best life.
